    The Dangerous Wild
    Woman Archetype

    - if you dare...

    • Wild blessings! My name is Willow Wolf, a long time packmate here on Star Mountain. I joined in April of 1996, five months after the group was formed. I was emerging from a dark night of the soul. My beloved mother had passed away the year before, and my own health had been seriously compromised by grief and stress.

As part of my healing, a friend suggested I read Estes book. I put off getting it so long that one day, she asked if I had gotten it yet. I said no. She picked up the phone, called the nearest bookstore, and had them hold a copy at the desk for me! I bought the book and took it home, with instructions from my friend to just open it up anywhere and start reading. It opened to the "Ugly Duckling" story, and I saw myself on those pages... a swam who had been running with the ducks for too long. As I devoured the book, I began searching online to see if others were as moved by it as I was. That is when I came across the Wild Wolf Women of the Web. I sent an email to join, and the next time I turned on my computer, my inbox was overflowing with emails from women (and men at that time) from around the world.

I had found a soul home, populated with many like-minded women. I continued to heal and grow, and in September 1997, ventured off to the first WWWW gathering in Colorado. Meeting these women face to face was life-changing in a new way. The names in my inbox came alive, and I found that the world I was living in could continue to become richer in meaning for me.

For about two years, I ran a wild woman list that I founded, Daughters of the Wolf. Yet I found it hard to keep up with both places, so I made the difficult decision to pass the mantle of Packmistress on my list to another and continue as a member at WWWW.

My joys in life are my partner, my two cats (see picture above), our dog, and my home. I am drawn to sacred landscapes, and built a 7 circuit Cretan labyrinth and a stone circle at my home. Because I love animals, cats in particular, I also have a pet-sitting business. Please visit my personal website if you would like to know more about my presence on the internet these dozen years.

In 2002, I was asked to become one of the three Alphas who manage the list, a service I was happy to render. Then in April 2006, I got a phone call from our Founder, asking if I would take over the list and website. I didn't have to think for long - the answer was yes! Since that day, I've found another layer of richness in WWWW. And I've found out more about myself and how I want to interact with my sisters in the Den, and with friends, family, and acquaintenances in my everyday world.

The wild nature calls each of us to a different path. Mine is to be part of this magical and mystical place. One day I too will pass the mantle of packmistress to another, and take my place at the fire, to watch the younger ones learn, and to no doubt be challenged once again to grow myself as an Elder of our world.
