The beautiful Shawnee Forest of southern Ohio was host to WC6. We were in three cabins again, but close together. We had two of our meals catered, and rented a Great Room in the nearby Lodge so that we had a place to gather. This was the wolfcon of the destiny map project. Every year we have some kind of creative work, and that year we had piles of magazines, glue, posterboard, and those who wanted to created a “map” of what they wanted to manifest in the coming year. Crystal and I taught our first Reiki workshop together, and Photo and Suzie got lost in the woods.

And, somehow, underwear “appeared” on the antenna of Wandering’s truck, and took a few laps around the parking lot…

Wanting to embarrass Nokomis in her home town, the traveling circus that is wolfcon headed to the Lanark Highlands of Canada for WC7. Our hosts turned out to be fundamentalist Christians who were, at first, a bit worried about this wild woman group, doing things like Reiki and tarot workshops that were “not of God”. But they warmed up to us, and within short order were sitting down after meals to talk and laugh with us. Although they did hide their men…

Crystal lead a fabulous Egyptian ritual for the earlybirds, and we had our pmp night and gift night. We also had Reiki I and II, past life regression workshop, our first silent auction to raise seed money for the next year, and some killer ping pong tournaments. And always lots of wolfsister sharing time, which is truly the reason WolfCon even exists…

I was heading for my 50th birthday before WC8, so went a few days early for an adventure at our incredible location high in the San Bernardino Mountains. Incredible because it is high desert-type environment, where grizzlies used to roam. It had an incredible energy. I walked by the lake, and along a mountain trail, asking the Universe to speak to me about what half a century of life meant. The answers I got were to embrace life. Let go of worry and focus on having fun. Good advice!

We stayed in a dump of a lodge in Big Bear. The ground was vertical, so other than the porch or the building, it was hard to find a place to be. But we made do. This was the debut of the wild woman play, which I wrote and directed, based on Vasalisa’s story. Selena brought things for us to make Vasalisa dolls. We had a chant workshop, more Reiki, a WWRWTW discussion and art workshop, and the highlight was a group trip to Angel’s passion Wolf Mountain Sanctuary.

Samara went on walk-about, so Nokomis took a tour as Springs Alpha. In the year after, Selena was faced with personal loss, and stepped down as one of the Alpha3. Nokomis stepped in and has been wonderful in the role. Dreamseer took Nokomis’ spot in the Springs. Lupa decided she had done her part (as indeed she had, and beautifully so), and resigned as Springs Alpha. Lucy took her place, even though she had only been on Star Mountain for a short time.

The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina was our WC9 location. We had a lodge to ourselves, on acres and acres of land, with a pond, river, trails, and an open-air pavilion. Crystal lead us in calling in the directions, and as we called the West, in walked CryingWolf, aka Meeshie, with tears of joy.

Our play was “The Red Shoes’, and the cast was brilliant. We had art supplies to work with available at all times, art workshops, Reiki (including our first Reiki Masters, Taexalia and Selena who Crystal and I have passed the Reiki workshop torch to), shamanic journeying, and prayer flags made at our pmp ritual to put our pmp wishes on the wind under a huge North Carolina moon…

On April 4, 2006, Crystal called me to ask if I would like to take over as Packmistress, list, website, and all. I never hesitated. I said yes. Dreamseer has now joined Nokomis and me as one of the Alpha3. Taexalia has returned to her role as a Springs Alpha. And Crystal is our Alpha Godmother. Our world goes on. New sisters join us. Former packmates return. Our 10th anniversary wolfcon is 2 months from now.

When I came here, I was looking for the wild woman. I found her, and I found a whole world full of wild women to run with. AAAaaarrrrrooouuuuuuuu!!!!!

The End... for now...
