Rebecca Hartnagle - Mystical Wolf
1952 - 2008 "A woman who not only ran with the wolves, but lived with one too!

Picture with Aloha and furry friend Nemo from WC 4 in New York.
I first met Mystical in Ely, at our third wolfcon, in 99 I believe. She was
ill then but so wanted to come and meet wolf women, and wolves. She came to Ely, New York, and then the next year, knowing it would be her
last, we took wolfcon to Ohio so she could be there with us. Mystical was much loved, and many women
made the trip to Ohio, knowing that she couldn't make the trip anywhere
else.
She was a funny woman, always laughing, running bras up the flagpole I believe was her invention so we surely could honor her with that at wolfcon this year, just one more time.
She loved her wolf, goo, and her little hedgehog, Lily. I remember the
pictures and the stories.
She was loving, always thinking
of us at wolfcon and wishing to join us even when this wasn't possible. We received
gifts from Mystical and Woodsy in surprise boxes, little gifts to pass around
at gift night.
We spoke on the phone off and on, and had a bond that meant a great deal to me. She had a wicked sense of humor, and was able to laugh at herself, even of her difficulties. She always believed she would come home from any hospital she ever stayed in, and all but one time, she was right. She was strong, smart, and sassy. What a wonderful wild woman!
may light illuminate our hearts as we mourn the passing of a sister....her howls distant and whispering in the wind.........forever in our hearts........never far from the moon......
This was a wonderful Wild Wolf Woman. I remember when my oldest son was in the VA hospital with a suspected heart attack, she called me and asked me if I wanted her to go see him...she didn't live too far from the hospital. Can you imagine? She was sick herself. God rest her soul.
I didn't know Mystical but she was a fellow Ohioan.... I wish her peace.
I am so sadden by this news of our Mystical..though we all knew it would come..we are never ready for the day it actually happens...She fought a hard tough fight...and I will always have memories of her in New York.....I begin my howl that will glide over the wind and reach her ears on the other side...she will hear her sisters mourn for her...yet we all know..that one day..we shall al meet again.
I don't know what
to say, I'm numb. Our silly sister who adored her
critters...and us...she was a delight. The only
solace in this is that her struggle is over and she is
now flying free in spirit.
